Trapped or suffocated by inwardly converging walls or by a floor that slopes downward and tapers to a smaller cross section; and / or Contains any other serious recognized health or safety hazard. OSHA Confined Space Standard The OSHA Confined Space Standard (29 CFR 1910.146) contains the requirements for practices and procedures to protect general industry employees from the risks of entering permit spaces. Employers in the general industry must evaluate their workplaces to determine if spaces are allowed spaces. If a workplace contains permit spaces, the employer must inform exposed employees of their existence, location, and the risks they pose. This can be done by posting danger signs such as "DANGER - CONFINED SPACE REQUIRED BY PERMIT - AUTHORIZED TICKETS ONLY" or by using an equally effective means.
